General Alexander Ross
The early history of the Royal Canadian Legion in Yorkton, in fact Saskatchewan and Canada, centered around a prominent pioneer and citizen of the province, General Alexander Ross, who spent his later years in Yorkton.
He was the subject of an extensive four-part article by local writer Ruth Shaw.
Yorkton Legion has uploaded the biography directly to the website:
The Generals Military medals are in the safe custody of the Royal Regina Rifles Regiment in Regina and his many Legion medals are on display in a place of honour at the General Alexander Ross Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion in Yorkton. His sword, cap, and belt are on display in the Officers Mess of the local Armoury.
